Self-worth is your belief in your own value as a person, independent of external achievements or validation, it comes from within. Self-esteem which generally can be seen as your opinion of your traits and abilities, often comes from outside sources. You can be able to boost your self-worth through self compassion and by building relationships with people who value you for who you truly are.

Self worth is an internal sense and it is not affected by your life's circumstances. It is a deep awareness of self and a sense of WHO you truly are. If you have a strong sense of self worth, you feel that you are a capable and valuable person who truly deserves love and respect.

Factors that may influence self worth:

  • Core beliefs and values

  • Thoughts and feelings

  • Emotions and mental well-being

  • Relationships, both past and present

  • Health and physical fitness

  • Career and profession

  • Childhood experiences

Some questions you can ask yourself

In which situations do you tend to compare yourself with others?

How much do you like, respect and value yourself?

How would you describe yourself to another person?

When you sit quietly and do self-reflecting; what thoughts and feelings come up for you?

Where do you believe these thoughts come from?
